A Sunday roast beef's best friend!


  • 125g/4oz Odlums Cream Plain Flour
  • 150ml/ ¼ pint Milk
  • 1 egg
  • Beef dripping


  1. Sift the flour into a bowl.
  2. Make a well in the centre. Break the egg into the well. Gradually add the milk and beat until incorporated.
  3. Pour into a jug and allow to stand for 15 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile pour a little beef dripping into each of the indents of the baking tin and heat until hot.
  5. Pour in batter and cook for 15-20 minutes in a preheated oven at 220°C/425°F/Gas 7 until well risen and golden in colour.
