Valerie's Brown Bread

Nothing wrong with this version of probably the most famous of recipes - brown bread. Well done to Valerie who wins a super Shamrock baking hamper.

Ingredients

  • 8oz Odlums Self Raising Flour
  • 8oz Odlums Coarse Wholemeal Flour
  • 1 level tsp bread soda
  • 1 heaped tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 125mls yogurt
  • 225mls milk

Method

  1. Sieve dry ingredients into a bowl and stir.
  2. Mix together wet ingredients, add to dry ingredients and stir until a moist consistency. Place in greased loaf tin.
  3. Add seasame and or poppy seeds to top of bread prior to cooking (optional).
  4. Cook at 190°C/375°F/Gas 5 for 10 mins and 180°C/350°F/Gas 4 for 35 minutes.
  5. Cool on wire tray.
