Prune and Walnut Tart

Fruit and nuts are lightly spiced and sugared in this inviting and easy-to-make dessert.

Ingredients

Prepartion Time   Ready in 40 minutes.

Method

  1. Pre-heat oven to 160°C/325°F/Gas 3.
  2. Roll out pastry to line a shallow (23cm/9") pie plate and reserve trimmings.
  3. Combine remaining ingredients except icing sugar and put into prepared pastry case, leaving a clear ½ inch / 1.5cm edge.
  4. Cut pastry trimmings into strips and arrange lattice-fashion on top, moistening ends and pressing well down.
  5. Bake for about 25 minutes or until pastry is golden brown.
  6. Dredge thickly with icing sugar and serve warm or cold.
