Cherry Buns

Sweet and tasy cherry buns are the perfect afternoon tea treat!

Ingredients

  • 125g/4oz granulated sugar
  • 75g/3oz butter
  • 225g/8oz Odlums Self Raising Flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • Milk to mix (150ml/¼ pint approx.)
  • 1 egg (lightly beaten)
  • 125g/4oz Shamrock Glace Cherries
  • Extra cherries (for decoration)
Prepartion Time   Ready in 25 minutes.

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C/425°F/Gas 7.
  2. In a bowl sieve together the flour and salt. Rub in the butter.
  3. Add three tbsp of sugar and add the cherries.
  4. Mix in the egg and enough milk to give a soft dropping consistency.
  5. Grease a deep bun tray and three quarter fill with the mixture. Place half a cherry on top, if liked. Sprinkle with remaining sugar.
  6. Bake in the pre-heated oven for approx 20 minutes, until well risen and golden brown
